Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Now I know it's a day that has become a perfect sales opportunity and we have to spend money to show our love for someone. However I recently worked on a wedding invite for a lovely couple in Denver so maybe I am just in the mood for Valentine's day. I have designed three simple cards which I am sharing with you all. In December I was thinking about the New Year and goals to set for myself. One thing I really wanted to do was create a piece of work everyday, these pieces could be a drawing, photo, digital art, or whatever came to mind. The idea is to make something everyday as a kind of creative warmup, however small or large. The work in no way would be final but maybe spark an idea for a future project. I know it's not an original idea to do a drawing or photo a day project, but I think it is greatly rewarding to anyone who decides to do it. My idea is to post the work weekly as a running sketchbook. So onto project #3. . .

This latest project came about when a good friend asked for my help with a baby shower invite. She wanted an invite that would celebrate her friend becoming a 'mommy-in-heels.' Inspired by the work of Leslie Graff I thought it would be a great oppertunity to try something new and do some painting. I worked digitally and used the new brushes in CS5. These allow colours to be mixed like real paint and there are options to customise the way the brushes work for individual preference. There are some great videos on Adobe TV if you would like to learn more.

When deciding to start a blog one of my intentions was to showcase anything I found that hopefully would inspire people. So today I am sharing a handful of artists, designers and photographers site's I love and I think you will too.

Today I am starting a series of 'Project' posts. These will be personal projects (lasting about a month) where I take a design brief, develop it, and at the end post the finished piece and sketches/ideas from the project. 

Welcome back! Ok so this is not a travel blog but I was blown away by this place and just had to share my photos and tell you a little about it. As mentioned in Tulum Part 1, Tulum is situated on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea and surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches, jungle, handfuls of cenotes and filled with wildlife. 

Last week I visited Tulum, Mexico and was blown away by how amazing this place was. Situated on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea, Tulum is surrounded by beautiful beaches, jungle, handfuls of cenotes and filled with wildlife. Being away from the hustle and bustle of the city I was inspired to sketch and take a bunch of photographs. Part one is all about the sketches and Part two will be the photos.
