Illustrations by Jean-Paul Orpinas

Project #2

This latest project came about when a good friend asked for my help with a baby shower invite. She wanted an invite that would celebrate her friend becoming a 'mommy-in-heels.' Inspired by the work of Leslie Graff I thought it would be a great oppertunity to try something new and do some painting. I worked digitally and used the new brushes in CS5. These allow colours to be mixed like real paint and there are options to customise the way the brushes work for individual preference. There are some great videos on Adobe TV if you would like to learn more.

Situated on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea, Tulum is surrounded by beautiful beaches, jungle, handfuls of cenotes and filled with wildlife. Being away from the hustle and bustle of the city I was inspired to sketch and take a bunch of photographs. Part one is all about the sketches and Part two will be the photos.
